Spirit Tasting
The tasting was a lot of fun - though the weather did not cooperate. Way too nice out!!! That has been the year's theme - good weather when we need bad, and bad weather when we need good. We'll need to be nicer to Mother Nature.
Anyway, some of the highlights. Really enjoyed the Koval Ginger Liqueur and Rose Hip Liqueur, which are made locally in Chicago. Nice spices and I found a little pepper in the Rose Hip. Their Rye Chicago White unaged Spirit I also found to be excellent. Pig's Nose and Sheep Dip Scotch provide a nice alternative to some of the Johnnie Walker products. Time to have something different. I also liked the Isle of Skye 8 yr blend - way better than Johnnie Black - invited them back from the Scotch Tasting. Chocovine (an interesting mix of red wine and chocolate), Dooley's Toffee Liqueur and Old New England Egg Nog were 3 of the best sellers. Not far behind was Jim Beam Red Stag - a cherry infused version of Jim Beam. I tried this and it was real nice - however, you must like cherries.
It certainly seemed like everyone had a great time. Thanks to all our distributors and suppliers for attending and to all of you who showed up on that beautiful day!!! Special thanks to Keith - the Maker's Mark Bourbon Dogs were outstanding.
