Wine with an Old Friend

When I say old, I don't mean that he is old, I simply mean we have been friends for a long time - like since I was 6 and he was 7.  That means 35 years.  You do the math.  He is also the former owner of Sam's Wine & Spirits and I value his insight into our business.  He currently speaks on retailing and customer service nationally.  Our dinner conversations are always interesting.  He gets some info on what is happening in the local industry, and I get national news and his opinion on some of our ideas.

Anyway, my wife and I went out with my friend and his wife on Saturday night to Tuscany in Wheeling.  As many of you know, we had a tasting that day in the store featuring some wine that Larry and Steve liked, as well as wines from one of our salesmen - Jerry.

As I looked at the wine list, we almost ordered a Rutherford Hill Merlot, but when I saw L&H Cellars, which I knew was sold by Jerry, I decided to give it a try.  It was reasonably priced (by restaurant standards) at $38.  Of course, it is more palatable at our price of $12.99.  I know....I know....what did you think already.  Well, I really liked it.  I'm not saying it was the BEST wine I ever had, but it is a great value wine.  A lot of nice fruit up front - almost jammy.  If you like fruit forward wines, this ones works well.  I would definitely order it again.  I just realized today that it was open at our Saturday tasting - need to pay more attention to that.

Have a great week!!!

Adam
