North Shore Wine Festival

I went to pour some wines at the North Shore Wine Festival on Sunday.  It was such a beautiful day, that I pretty much wanted to stay home.  But, I loaded my cases and off I went.  We tasted Wente Riesling, New Age White, Guenoc Claret, Gascon Malbec and Dooley's Toffee Liqueur.

There was a large crowd as a Beatles cover band was playing the event along with the Buckinghams.  I'd like to say I remember them, but they were before my time.  Nonetheless, the music was excellent.

The wines were also a hit - particularly the New Age White and Guenoc Claret.  The New Age White is a blend of Sauvignon Blanc and Malvasia grapes - which adds sweetness to the crisp Sauv Blanc.  It also has a little sparkle to it and was great on a beautiful day outside.  The Guenoc was a great value at $9.99 - a bordeaux style blend from California.  We sold out of both.

While the event was a lot of fun, a couple suggestions are in order for next year.  First, the wine tasting area needs to be separated from the music venue.  It was too loud (though the music was excellent) to hear questions or talk about a given wine.  Second, they need to improve their glassware - you can't get the best taste out of a 5 oz. plastic glass.  Finally, we need more light - it was too dim to really look at and appreciate the wines.

Just my 2 cents.
