Altamurra 2005
Hello again everybody. This past week has flown by. Our Beer and Wine Riot was probably our best attended ever. That is saying a lot because they are always busy. The place was a madhouse. Because of this, I did not have much opportunity to sample anything - after all, we are doing this for our customers, not me.
I was exhausted by the time I got home. Fortunately, dinner was waiting - NOT!!! For some reason, nobody ordered anything until I got home. I was not happy. I brought home a bottle of the Mettler Cabernet that we sampled. This is a very nice $23 or so bottle of wine. In fact, I thought it could even get better in a year or two as it softens. Now the great part. My friend had opened a bottle of 2005 Altamurra Cabernet - which was fantastic. Great fruit, perfect tannins. I thoroughly enjoyed it now, and you could lay this down for a decade or more. It sells for $77 a bottle, so it is not inexpensive, but it was wonderful.
Talk to you next week.
