Weeks Thoughts
Even though I don't have much to add this week, I will honor my New Year's Resolution and post something. First, due to the snowstorm last Saturday, we didn't open those late vintage wines. We will reschedule that event and I will post info here when that is determined. I am looking forward to this one.
Second, we recently added Big Sky Brewing to our Beer Selection - this includes the famous Moose Drool Brown Ale. While our beer aficionados have discussed this line of beers and it has been requested often by customers, I have never tried any. The only reason that we did not carry it until now is that it was previously not available in Illinois. Anyway, we have our big January Beer and Wine Riot on Saturday the 24th of January from 1-5 PM. Big Sky will be there and I am looking forward to trying it.
Finally, this weekend I am having a reunion with my college roommates from the 1986-87 and 1987-88 school years (my sophomore and junior years). I was trying to decide what to bring as I was not sure what these guys drink (back then it was beer and Kamikazees). One of them, when asked what to bring, mentioned nice wine - I guess he forgot that I am in the business, but I haven't seen him in 10 years to be fair. So, I think I will bring a bottle of Chimney Rock that we recently purchased. I am not sure what is left, but these $100 wines are bring sold for $39.99. The 2000 was in your face big and bold and the 2001 was just perfectly balanced and softer. Not sure which one I will bring - but I have to remember to open it a couple hours before we drink it. I'll let all of you know how it goes.
