Saturday Night with Friends

On Saturday, May 31st, we went over to our friends for an impromptu wine tasting and dinner.  Bryan had pulled out a vertical of Turnbull Cabernet (2001-2005) for us to try.  While they are all great, I preferred the 2001 and 2002.  The 2001 was extremely well balanced.  The 2002 had a little more fruit - and it was my favorite of the bunch.  The 2004 and 2005 could sit in the bottle for another couple years.  I think the 2004 could become like the 2001 in a few years.  These all sell for around $40.00 - best yet, Bryan bought them from us.

After the Cabernet, we tasted a 1958 Sauternes from B&G.  It held up magnificently.  Nice deep rich color.  And the sweetness was still there - unbelievable that this is 50 years old!!!  Larry has a few bottles hidden away by his desk.  Stop in and ask him about it - I think he was selling them for $50 or less.
