4/18 Radio Show

This was certainly a strange radio show.  Jerry was out sick, so Mary (our WKRS salesperson) took his spot, and Nick was left to lead us.  I took a customer and friend, Bryan, with me to sample on the air.  We focused on wines, as the Spring Tasting was the next day.

The first wine we tried was Saracco Moscato from the Asti area of Italy.  While not a sparkling wine, it does have some "fizz."  This would be a great summer deck wine (no comments from Jerry).  Nice and light with apple and citrus.  It sells for $12.99 per bottle.

The second wine was Chateau La Gardine Chateauneuf du Pape.  Chateauneuf du Pape is an area within the Rhone, which produces fantastic wines.  This was no exception.  A blend of Grenache, Syrah and Mouvedre, the wine had notes of black cherry and plum, and was not overly tannic.  At the tasting this wine was $34.99 and worth every penny.

The final item we tried was Booker's Bourbon.  I brought this for Jerry to try since I was sure it wasn't Nick's style.  Booker's Bourbon was created by Booker Noe, the great grandson of Jim Beam himself.  The spirit is a part of the Jim Beam portfolio.  It is uncut and unfiltered, just the way Grandpa Beam drank it.  While Booker Noe has since passed, this tribute to his grandfather lives on.  It is not for the faint of heart, as it is usually out of the barrel at over 125 proof.  Nick, as expected, was not fond of it, but Mary surprised me and gladly gulped down her shot.  My friend Bryan managed to slug it down, but did not look particularly healthy afterward.  I would recommend that this spirit be sipped with water to bring out its flavors, or at least over ice (allowing them to melt into the spirit as you sip on it).

Not sure what we will do next week, but we will be on again.

We are also trying to arrange a date to do the show from the store.  Stay tuned!!!
